FSSAI Registration and Food Licence in Jaipur
Anyone who manufactures, stores, distributes, sells or serves food must be registered or licensed with the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India. We help you choose the right category and complete the application.
Types of registration
- Basic registration – for small food businesses within the prescribed turnover and capacity limits.
- State licence – for medium-sized businesses, up to the prescribed turnover threshold.
- Central licence – for large operators, importers, exporters and certain categories such as e-commerce food operators and specified manufacturers.
The category depends on the activity, the turnover and the capacity of the business. The thresholds are set by the Authority and we confirm them before applying.
Documents commonly required
- Photo ID and address proof of the applicant, and photographs.
- Proof of possession of the premises, and the business constitution documents.
- List of food products, layout or plan of the premises, and a water test report where relevant.
- For a licence, a food safety management plan and declaration forms.
Process, validity and renewal
The application is filed online on the FoSCoS portal. For a licence, an inspection may follow. The registration or licence is valid for one to five years, as chosen by the applicant, and must be renewed before expiry to avoid late fees. FSSAI also requires periodic returns from certain licence holders, and the licence number must be displayed on invoices and premises.
